Generation Veggie is committed to supporting families raising plant-powered kids – and we work to meet this mission by building community. Our website offers community-driven content and resources to educate and inspire, and the Generation Veggie Families Facebook Group is a safe space to discuss issues, ask questions, and meet like-minded families.
We also provide opportunities to build community outside social media spaces to help foster real world connections. The first is our new Pen Pal Program, which will help children develop new friendships with veggie kids just like them. As we continue to grow, we look forward to expanding our programs and providing even more ways for our community to build the important networks and support systems to help families thrive.
First and foremost: Play nice. Generation Veggie’s mission is to support families raising plant-powered, kindhearted kids, and we welcome people across a broad spectrum. Personal attacks, shaming, name-calling, hate speech, and otherwise rude and unhelpful behavior will not be tolerated. Be respectful. Appreciate that not everyone will be in the same place as you in their understanding of animal rights, veganism, social justice, and a myriad of other issues. Meet people where they are and try to encourage them in their efforts to make kind choices. Under no circumstances should you post anything that could be taken as threatening, harassing, bullying, obscene, pornographic, sexist or racist.
Keep profanity to a minimum. We get it. Sometimes a good cuss session is the best way to let off a little steam and adequately express yourself, and the Generation Veggie Community may be one of the few places you can safely tell it like it is. However, we want everyone to feel welcome and safe. With that in mind, we ask that you reserve swearing for when there’s just no other good option.
Respect copyright laws. Linking to relevant content is fine, as is quoting limited amounts from other people’s work if you give them credit. Copying whole articles or other people’s photos is not.
Keep it short and simple. This isn’t Twitter, but in general you should try to keep your comments to a few paragraphs. Anything longer than that probably won’t be read anyway. We also reserve the right to edit for brevity, clarity and other purposes.
Respect other people’s privacy. Please do not share anyone’s contact information through Generation Veggie.
Do not use this forum for solicitation of any kind. That means advertising, promotion, recruiting, campaigning, lobbying, soliciting or proselytizing. Violations will be blocked.
Don’t be a troll and don’t encourage them. Please report abuse by trolls and their comments will be removed. Don’t make it worse by reacting to their comments. If you do, your comments will be removed too.
Don’t impersonate someone else. Impostors will be blocked.
You and you alone are solely responsible for the content you post. Generation Veggie is not responsible for the content posted by its users. We do not and cannot review all user content posted on the Generation Veggie Facebook Group. However, we have the right (but not the obligation) to review, screen, delete, edit and/or move any content posted on Generation Veggie. Generation Veggie reserves the right to remove any comments it sees fit.
