We may try to be kind to bugs, but that doesn’t mean their stings hurt any less. Keep them away and treat the bumps they leave behind with these great products.
Bug Spray:
Quantum Health’s Buzz Away Extreme
Buzz Away Extreme is DEET-free, not greasy, and cruelty free! It’s made from essential oils and works to repel gnats, flies, mosquitos, and ticks. Has a strong aroma of citronella and mint and also contains soy, so might not be ideal for sensitive kids. Needs to be reapplied every 2.5 hours for full insect protection. Not recommended for use on small children. Buzz Away Extreme comes in 2 oz, 4 oz, and 8 oz bottles and is also available in towelettes. California Baby’s Bug Repellant Spray
This DEET-free formula is specifically designed for babies. Smells mildly like a citronella candle and does not contain nut oils, gluten, soy, oat, or animal products. Needs to be reapplied more often than a traditional DEET spray. Bug Repellant Spray can be found at Whole Foods, Target, Babies R Us, and online.
Lafes’ Organic Baby Insect Repellent
Works well for the whole family and is gentle on a baby’s skin. Has a very mild smell and works through a combination of essential oils. Cruelty-free, and the spray bottle is baby-safe plastic that does not contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Should be applied every two hours. Badger’s Anti-Bug Spray
Smells wonderfully of essential oils and really repels bugs. Anti-Bug Spray is a cruelty-free formula that comes in both 2.7 and 4 oz bottles. Should be reapplied often and will wash off if your child goes in the water. Safe for the whole family. Badger can be found at Whole Foods, REI, and online.
